Meet the Team

Theresa Carmichael,RDN

Anti-diet Registered Dietitians

My name is Theresa and I am a registered dietitian + owner of the Carmichael Clinic, specializing in the treatment of disordered eating of all kinds. My team’s passion lies with helping people rebuild peace with food and their bodies. This private practice is focused on intuitive eating, inclusivity and Health at Every Size®. We wish to guide those struggling with disordered eating to recovery, as recovery & relief is possible!

Education Background & Work History

Theresa Carmichael earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Foods & Nutrition from San Diego State University. Shortly after graduation she was accepted to a dietetic internship through the University of Nevada Las Vegas with an emphasis in Clinical Nutrition. Ms. Carmichael has been working with adolescents & adults with eating disorders in all levels of care (inpatient, residential programs, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs) since 2014. She has found a passion working with clients of all ages struggling with mental health, disordered eating and more. Ms. Carmichael is thrilled to continue her future with Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, helping clients address a variety of issues with food. Theresa sits as an Executive Board Member of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics Behavioral Health Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group as well as an Advisory Board Member for San Diego State University’s Didactic Program in Dietetics. Outside of clinical work, she enjoys professional speaking and training other healthcare providers on the treatment of disordered eating.

Education Background & Work History

I’m Jenna Laughlin, a nutrition educator and registered dietitian devoted to guiding individuals on their journey to overcome disordered eating. I earned my undergraduate degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of California – Davis and completed my master’s degree in nutrition science at San Diego State University. As a former food scientist turned registered dietitian, I bring a unique perspective that allows me to fact-check misinformation about food and health. Providing gender-affirming care to individuals of all ages, I am well-versed in family-based therapy and am passionate about coaching families through supporting their loved ones’ recovery from disordered eating. My commitment lies in helping individuals build the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable positive change in their relationship with food.
